Two-Sport Athlete Summer Martin Verbally Commits to Dartmouth

Summer Martin has committed to the application process at Dartmouth College*. “So happy to announce my commitment to swim for Dartmouth next year. I couldn’t ask for a better swim team, better coaches, and a better opportunity to grow and be challenged in and out of the pool. GO GREEN!”

Martin, a senior at Strath Haven High School in Wallingford Pennsylvania, was one of the 75 students from Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District recognized by Congressman Patrick Meehan with the Congressional Scholar-Athlete Award last May.

Martin is a member of both the Strath Haven swim team and the cross country team, and has participated in the Pennsylvania State Meet in both sports. She was part of the Strath Haven cross country squad that placed 7th at the state meet in 2015, and has been a PIAA Girls AAA Swimming & Diving finalist five times for swimming. In 2014 she placed 7th in the 50 free (24.22) and 16th in the 100 free (52.60); in 2015 she was 7th in the 200 free (1:52.79) and in the 100 free (51.70); and in 2016, 15th in the 100 free (52.26).

Martin swims year-round for the club team Suburban Seahawks under coach Charlie Kennedy. She had a terrific summer season, earning lifetime bests in LCM 100 free (58.43), 100 back (1:09.10), 100 breast (1:20.81), 100 fly (1:04.13), and 200 fly (2:37.31). Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 24.09
  • 100 free – 51.70
  • 200 free – 1:52.50
  • 100 breast – 1:07.96
  • 100 fly – 57.31
  • 200 IM – 2:08.88

*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER: A “verbal commitment” by a coach is not an offer of admission, as only the Admissions Office has that authority. An Ivy League coach can only commit his or her support in the admissions process.
