Women’s Highlights:

  • The Texas A&M women won all seven events on Day Two of the Art Adamson Invitational, and had 1-2 finishes in 4 out of the 5 individual events.
  • The Aggies went 1-2 in the 400 IM, with Bethany Galat (4:04.36) beating out teammate and reigning SEC Champion in the 400 IM, Sydney Pickrem (4:06.50).
  • Texas A&M’s Sarah Gibson won two events in a row, taking the 100 fly in an A-cut time of 51.37, before touching first in the 200 free (1:44.37). She now has three individual titles with still the final day of competition remaining.
  • The Aggies also went 1-2 in the 100 breast, and had two swimmers break the 1 minute barrier. Junior Jorie Caneta was first (59.38), followed by senior Franko Jonker (59.89).
  • A&M’s Beryl Gastaldello won the 100 back (53.25), just ahead of teammate Laura Norman (53.53).

The Texas A&M women lead after Day Two with 505 points. LSU is second with 274 points, and Boise State is third with 238.

Men’s Highlights:

  • The Texas A&M men won the 200 medley relay, during which senior Cory Bolleter split 18.97 on the final freestyle leg.
  • LSU’s Logan Rysemus was the only competitor to swim under 46 seconds in the 100 fly with a 45.98. Rysemus again broke 46 seconds in the 100 back with a 45.89.
  • Arizona State freshman Cameron Craig picked up another individual title in the 200 free (1:34.57). LSU’s Jake Markham swam under 1:35 in prelims, but finished second in finals with a 1:35.11.
  • Arizona State won the 800 free relay by more than 6 seconds over LSU (6:24.45 to 6:30.74).

After Day Two, LSU (651), Texas A&M (645.5) and Arizona State (620.5) are all in the hunt for the invitational title.

Day Three of competition will feature the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
