Boston University Signs Massachusetts Freestyler Sydney Lee

Sydney Lee, a senior at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the Boston University Terriers next year. “I’m very excited to further my swimming and learning at BU next fall. The team made me feel welcomed right away and I can’t wait to join them! I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity. Go terriers!”

Lee swims year-round with Commonwealth Swimming under coach Chris Sheppard. She is a freestyle specialist, and has been an A finalist in both the 50 free and 100 free at long course and short course sectionals, as well as Futures Championships, over the last several years.

While she mostly skipped the summer long course season, Lee earned best times in the SCY 50/100/500 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM during the 2015-16 season. Her best short course times are:

  • 50 free – 23.86
  • 100 free – 51.34
  • 200 free – 1:50.22
  • 500 free – 5:01.61

Lee will join the Terriers’ class of 2021 with fellow commits Kara Lydzinski, Megan Wimmer, and Michaela Rogers.
