I think it’s fair to say that this week has had some pretty insane swims 🙂

Really confused at what’s happening with the UNC men?? Where is Ryan Torie and top-15 recruit Brocato? Thought they’d be challenging NC State for first at this meet

Ha, ok at this point you must be a UVA or State swimmer looking to rub it in. No idea where Torie is. Brocato Is swimming just not very fast.

Challenge NC state???. So comical. Mark it down. UNC men won’t challenge NC state until they hire a new coach. UNC is irrelevant to NC state now. NC State is at a completely different level of swimming.

I’ll say it again. This is worst UNC men have looked in 30 years. UNC women look better, but they were obviously pretty rested and shaved and lost to an NC state women’s team not rested as much and not shaved.

UNC women were not shaved and were not fully tapered. Take that as you will.

Dropping half seconds in 50 free. Going almost a full second faster in 50s than in season. Lots of best times.

Let’s put it this way…compare the % of best times on UNC women side to Teams that really weren’t rested and shaved.

Say what you want. If Baldwin goes 21.3 at the end of season or their 200 free relay goes 1:26 then I’ll believe you.

Otherwise you’re full of nonsense. They’re probably telling their women that they weren’t. But it’s obvious and mark it down. I’ll compare the times for you at the end of season.

If they had a new coach, I’d maybe consider the idea. But Nope, nothing new

Oh and for the record. I’d love it if you were right. I want nothing more for UNC to become the great team they have the potential to be. Then the ACC could reach its potential. Everyone wins.

Just saying, you don’t break school records etc without decent rest.

NC State seemed to underwhelm just a little at this meet

Not sure what you saw. I thought they were pretty darn impressive. Not shaved. Minimal rest and suits from what I’ve heard. Those are pretty fast times considering. Don’t forget they get a huge pickup at semester too

Several top 5 times in the country from several swimmers in various strokes who were not shaved not rested. Not sure what it would take to overwhelm you.

I think the loss of Bilis is huge. The relays are not quite as complete as last year. They have a hole in breaststroke. Compared to what I’ve seen the last two years, it was a little underwhelming.

People have to be careful when comparing times at this time of year. Some teams rest and shave and suit up fully while others do it to varying degrees. Only the teams really know to what degree they are rested. I will say this for NC State, when comparing results from meets where swimmers were not rested, shaved or in suits their times stack up near the top.

Sounds like no matter what times were put up you don’t want to believe that NC State is a great swim team. Losing Bilis was huge. The team is more complete than last year. The distance group has upped its game with Ipsen Linker and MacIntyre Warner adds breast stroke depth. Stewart adds to the backstroke and McGlaughln is the new sprinter. Believe what you want to believe- the team is deeper and more complete. Last year NC State was 4th at NCAAs The highest finish by any team without any individual winners-the highest of any team.
