New Zealand’s Rebecca Moynihan Commits to Florida Gulf Coast

Rebecca Moynihan from Palmerston North, New Zealand has verbally committed to swim for Florida Gulf Coast University beginning in the 2017-18 season. Moynihan is a freestyler with a number of Wellington age group records to her name. She swims for the Raumati Raptors at Coastlands Aquatic Centre in Paraparaumu.

Moynihan specializes in the shorter range of freestyle events. She went best times in the 50 and 100 LCM freestyles at the 2016 New Zealand Open Championships last March, where she finished fourth in the Women’s Open division of the 50 free and 13th in the 100. In October, Moynihan participated in the New Zealand Short Course Championships in Auckland. There she won the girls 17-18 50 free and placed third in the 100 free, sixth in the 200 free, ninth in the 50 back, and seventh in the 100 back. She earned new PBs in all but the 200 free.
