Sonora High School senior Sarah Stacer has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction beginning next fall. Stacer was a finalist in the 100 back at the 2016 CIF-Southern Section Division II Championships last May.
Stacer swims year-round with La Mirada Armada and specializes mostly in backstroke and IM. At the 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals West she competed in the 100/200y backstrokes and 200y IM, earning a PB in the IM. Stacer placed 21st in the 100m back and 25th in the 200m back at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals in Roseville, California last summer. At the recent Kevin B Perry Senior Invitational in early November, she renewed her best times in the 50 free and 200 IM.

Colorado Mesa competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in NCAA’s Division II. The Mavericks will get an immediate lift from Stacer, as she would have been their highest scorer in the A final of the 200 IM, and would have joined conference champion Mary Saiz in the A finals of the 100 back and the 200 back. Stacer will join Olivia DeRemer from Wisconsin who has also committed to the Colorado Mesa class of 2021.
