Hungary Wins Big At FINA Women’s Water Polo World League 2017

The first round of the FINA Women’s Water Polo World League 2017 European preliminaries was played yesterday evening, November 29, in Athens (GRE) and Lille (FRA).

In Group A, the Netherlands played Greece in Athens and ended up winning 7-5 after penalty shootout despite a powerful start for the Greek in the first quarter (0-3, 2-1, 1-0, 1-0).

In Group B’s game however Hungary’s victory over France was more obvious with a 16-6 final score (7-2, 2-1, 4-2, 3-1).

The second round of the women’s European tournament will be disputed on December 20, although Italy-France already faced each other on November 22 (14-4, for Italy). Therefore the only match remaining is Netherlands-Russia, which will take place in Utrecht (NED).
