The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team will close out the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule with a 12 noon dual meet against Rice on Saturday at the Student Recreation Natatorium. Additionally, the Aggie divers will see action against the University of Houston.

The Aggies are 3-1 in dual meet action and are coming off a strong performance in the Art Adamson Invitational two weeks ago in Mansfield, Texas. At the Adamson, the Aggies more than doubled the point total of the runner-up team with a whopping 1,404.5 point total. The Aggies posted a handful of NCAA “A” cuts and dozens of “b” qualifiers while winning 16 of 18 possible races at the team’s annual fall invitational. Leading the way was senior Sarah Gibson, who was named SEC Swimmer of the Week after winning five individual races and helping four relays to victory.

As Texas A&M out the fall semester, the Aggies have produced 28 times that rank among the top 25-fastest in the nation, including six that rank in the nation’s top five: junior Beryl Gastaldello (No. 5 in the 50 freestyle / 21.94), junior Jorie Caneta (No. 3 in the 100 breaststroke / 59.38), senior Ashley McGregor (No. 3 in the 200 breaststroke / 2:07.16), Gibson (No. 2 in the 100 butterfly / 51.37 and No. 2 in the 200 fly / 1:54.59) and junior Bethany Galat (No. 3 in the 400 IM / 4:04.36).
