2016 Short Course Worlds: Hungary, USA Tied for Most Golds After Day 2

2016 SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

After day 2 finals at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships, Team USA has extended its lead in the team standings in terms of overall medals. With their performances in tonight’s races, the Americans raised their medal count to 9, maintaining their lead ahead of Russia (6) and Hungary (5).

In terms of the gold medal total, however, Team USA and Hungary are tied with 3 golds each. The U.S. earned 2 golds tonight thanks to their American Record performance in the women’s 200 medley relay, as well as Olympic champ Lilly King‘s individual 50 breast victory. Hungary also tacked on 2 courtesy of iron lady Katinka Hosszu in the 200 fly and 100 back. The only other countries with multiple gold medals so far are Russia (2) and Korea (2).

Also contributing to the USA medal count tonight were Kelsi Worrell (silver, 200 fly) and Molly Hannis (bronze, 50 breast).

You are definitely not a patriot. Why to limit yourself with the “country” but not a “universe” or other “galatically” stupid comparisons. As I said: some people are impressed, others may not. You like it – good for you.

What she can do so far is much less impressive than what she’s done in Doha two years ago. I’m talking about her performance. But it is very possible that she will get more medals at this meet than she won two years ago. What does it tell to you? Would it be impressive? Against any laws of Nature: the lesser quality, the more awards. That is really impressive FINa’s business, my friend.

Yeah it elevates your caffeine too much. Also I think there was some ingredient in the “extreme” mix that was banned not too long ago.
