The city of Lausanne, located in Switzerland, is the home of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA). The first Lausanne Swim Cup takes place on December 17 and 18 at the local swim club’s facilities on Lake Geneva, the “Piscine de Mon-Repos”.
On day 2 Michael Andrew swam a 52.46 in the 100 fly, which is about a second short of his personal best. He touched third in the final in Lausanne. France’s A-team butterflier Medhy Metella swam the fastest time in 51,29 ahead of Philip Heintz (GER) in 51,77.
Marco Koch, who is the world record holder in the 200 m breaststroke in 2:00,44, took the win in 2:04,03 and this time puts him in a good position for the bonuses for the top ten FINA performances with 916 points.
The top ten FINA performances of the meet, men and women combined, will earn some extra bonuses (in addition: 18.000 CHF, about 17.500 USD, 500 CHF are around 490 USD):

Katinka Hosszu had 4 starts and won all of her races: 100m fly in 56,66, 100m back in 56,93, 200m IM in 2:04,76 and 400m freestyle in 4:03,84.
Her performance in the 400m IM yesterday earned 937 FINA points – the highest score during the two days meet with which she will get the 4.000 CHF bonus.
Belgium’s Pieter Timmers took home the win in the men’s 200m freestyle in 1:44,03. Fastest woman in the 200m freestyle was Charlotte Bonnet (France) in 1:54,30.
Benjamin Stasiulis (FRA) touched first in the 100m backstroke in 51,62. First place finisher in the 200m IM was Philip Heintz (GER) in 1:53,84 – he won the silver medal at the 2016 SC World Championships.
2016 World Champion in the 50m breaststroke, Cameron van der Burgh (South Africa), also won the final in Lausanne in 26,50, Michael Andrew came in second in 26,94\.
Fastest lady in the 50m freestyle was Anna Santamans (FRA) in 24,93.
Olympic Champion Anthony Ervin (USA) finished fourth in the 50m free in 21,86, one place behind Michael Andrew who set a new personal best in 21,77. Pieter Timmers and Clement Mignon (FRA) tied for first place in 21,59.

I hope MA keeps his options open and doesn’t just focus on IM and breaststroke. I love him in the 100 fly. I have written about it multiple times on swimswam. He gets destroyed off the turn underwater by the likes of shields and le clos by over a second to 15 off the wall yet his best time is 52.5. Do the math, his stroke speed is world class. If he can get those big underwaters, he will be set in the 100 fly. I follow all the rushall stuff and he is a big believer in the skinny fast dolphin kicks, while this may be the fastest most hydrodynamic way, I believe that big kicks are the way… Read more »
