UNLV senior Tom Paco-Pedroni was named the WAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Paco-Pedroni is the first Rebel to earn weekly honors this season, and it’s the first time in his career he has received the award.
James, a native of Nice, France, won three individual events this past weekend in the Rebels’ competition against UCSB and Air Force Jan. 21-22 in Las Vegas. He placed first in the 50 breast (26.20) on Friday in the meet with UCSB. Against UCSB and Air Force on Jan. 21, he added wins in the 200 free (1:39.10), and 100 free (44.24). He also anchored the winning 400 relay (2:59.82), while his swims in the 100 and 200 free were the second and third highest ranked swims in the meet.
Paco-Pedroni and the rest of the Rebel swimmers are back in action Saturday, Jan. 28 against Wyoming at the Buchanan Natatorium, on what will be Senior Day for both the men’s and women’s squads.
