Watch: 3-Time Big Ten Champ Gia Dalesandro of Indiana Talks “Grit”

Watch as three-time Big Ten champion Gia Dalesandro talks about her experience with Indiana Swimming and Diving and what “Grit” means to her.

Dalesandro, a senior, is a Big Ten powerhouse who has won conference titles in the 200 fly each year of her college career. Last season her 200 fly win came in 1:54.77, and she also grabbed a silver in the 100 fly (52.42). At last season’s NCAA Championships, Dalesandro finished 12th in the 200 fly (1:55.02), 14th in the 100 fly (51.12), 10th in the 200 medley relay, and seventh in the 400 medley relay.

““Gia has been the heart and soul of our women’s team the last three and a half years,” said Indiana coach Ray Looze. “Her quest to elevate our program has led to such individual accolades as representing the USA at the Pan American Games, becoming a member of the USA National team, seven NCAA All America honors, Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades and being named a team captain.  Her career at IU will already go down as one of the most accomplished in recent memory.”

This is the third video in a series that has also featured Indiana Olympic gold medalist Blake Pieroni and Olympic bronze medalist Kennedy Goss. You can see both of their installments below:
