Her performances are either highly suspicious or her injuries are incredibly worrying. And just because she is at a HPC in Ontario does not mean that’s the right hands for her. Coaches in such lofty positions have ruined many a great swimmer and it looks like the Ontario crew are doing likewise to Penny. Being in a Centre brings no guarantees, in fact it often leads to failure. And anything other than a progression in 2017 from where Penny was in 2016 should be seen as a failure of coaching! It also begs the question why is she racing foreign meets at all if she is 3 months into an injury serious enough for her to talk about in interviews?!… Read more »

From what i heard she had a concussion while doing some medicine ball exercise at dryland. Hopefully she recovers fast from her injuries and can see her perfrom at her best for the summer, which not only means worlds in budapest but also junior worlds also in indy!

Shoulders injury for three months already? Unconscious a week ago? Haven’t heard of such problem being reported. Has it happened in the pool or during dry land exercises? Is she in right hands? She became an elite swimmer so quickly that is probably needed a very special and maybe delicate treatment. I hope her coaches are up to such task.

She is with the High Performance Ontario group, so I am pretty sure she will get the right treatment there. While she has a very laid-back personality, she didnt seem particularly worried in this video. Her coaches/family also seem to be very careful about not over-working her since she is still so young, so hopefully this is just a temporary set–back for her.
