Introducing Olympian Duncan Scott

Duncan Scott, a Scottish and Great Britain swimmer who is extremely versatile competition in freestyle, medley, and butterfly events. Scott started his career in 2013, at the age of 16 at his first junior international meet. He won eight gold medals.  Where he quickly rose to one of British Swimming’s most exciting talents.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Scott became the first British swimmer to make the 100-meter freestyle final in 48 years, where he finished 5th.  On top of that, he grabbed two silvers in the 4×200 freestyle relay and the 4×10-meter medley relay.

Scott’s training has changed a little bit, as he is currently attending University of Stirling studying Business and Sports Studies.

When he is not studying he is training with coach Steven Tigg.  Tigg is credited with Scott’s success in the pool.  Coach Tigg has played a very positive role in Scott’s life.

“I didn’t think I would make Rio but my coach is very down to earth and he definitely knows and believes in what I can achieve.  He has a lot of belief in my ability”, said Scott.

The British Championships are up next followed by the World Championships in Budapest. Scott is training to qualify for as many events as possible for Budapest, as well as next year’s Commonwealth Games on Gold Coast, Australia.  He is looking to test himself mentally and physically with such a grueling meet schedule coming up.
