Athletes from 20 nations* took the plunge this weekend in Gatineau, Canada, for the second leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix 2017.
Chinese divers won most events on the three-day programme (April 6-8) to the exception of the 10m platform in the women’s competition where Japan’s Nana Sasaki took gold in 338.70 and the men’s 10m synchro event which was won by Great Britain’s Matthew Dixon / Noah Williams with 406.32.
Diving ace He Chao topped the 3m with 502.65 points, finishing ahead of Liam Stone (NZL) and Sho Sakai (JPN) who scored 457.40 and 453.45 points respectively.
He Chao was equally successful in the 3m sychnro event with teammate Liu Cheng Ming and took gold in 407.01.
Canada’s Vincent Riendeau ranked second in the 10m platform ahead of Matthew Dixon of Great Britain, while Yang Jian (CHN) was the best in this event with a strong 550.60.
In the women’s competition, Jia Dongjin (CHN) took gold in the 3m (361.05), in front of Australia Anabelle Smith and host country diver Pamela Ware.
Chinese pairs Chen hui Ling / Jian Dongjin and Zhang Rui / Liu Xin were the best in the duet events, respectively scoring 302.70 and 324.36 points.
The next meet of the Grand Prix 2017 will be held in San Juan (PUR) on May 4-7.
