Somerset Valley’s Michelle D’Allegro to Join Sister, Commits to Wagner

Somerset Valley YMCA’s Michelle D’Allegro has verbally committed to Wagner College, where she will join her sister, rising sophomore Jenna D’Allegro, next fall. A senior at Montgomery High School in Skillman, New Jersey, D’Allegro is a YMCA National-level breaststroker who experienced a breakout long course season this past summer, finaling at 2016 YMCA Long Course Nationals in the 50/200m breast.

As a junior, D’Allegro finished ninth in the 100 breast at the 2016 New Jersey Swim Meet of Champions; this past February she was 16th in the same event, and participated on Montgomery’s third-place 200 medley relay.

Dan Roth, Director of Competitive Aquatics at Somerset Valley YMCA told SwimSwam, “Shelly is a highly motivated senior who is at a great point in her development in and out of the water.  She will make a big impact at Wagner, where her sister is already off to a great start to her freshman campaign.”

D’Allegro’s best SCY events are:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.34
  • 200 breast – 2:22.33
  • 200 IM – 2:10.95
  • 400 IM – 4:40.65
  • 1000 free – 10:56.16
