Holly Hibbott on 400 Free Title: “I Knew I Had it in Me”

On night 5 of the 2017 British Swimming Championships, distance standout Holly Hibbott won her first-ever national title n the 400 free. Stockport Metro’s Hibbot knocked a full 2 seconds off her best time, clocking in at 4:06.37 to outpace Olympic silver medalist Jazz Carlin. National Centre Bath’s Carlin wound up taking the silver in 4:07.24.

Hibbott is now the 6th fastest 400 freestyler in the world this year, while Carlin sits at 12th in the world just behind Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu (4:07.18).

“I’ve had a really good block of training leading into this. I hoped for a personal best and I knew I had it in me so I’m really happy with the result. I knew I wanted to do well this year so I’ve trained really hard and done everything I can.”
