Gators Round Out Incoming Women’s Class with Jillian Hatch and Gabrielle Hillis

The University of Florida has announced its class of swimmers and divers, which now includes transfer Jillian Hatch from University of the Pacific who will begin as a sophomore after having completed one year of eligibility with the Tigers in Stockton, California.

Hatch, who grew up in Tulare, California and attended Clovis High School, where she was valedictorian and an AP Scholar of Distinction, specialized in the 50-500 freestyle range at Pacific. She competed in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly at the 2017 MPSF conference championship meet, and swam a leg on the Tigers’ 800 free relay. Her top 100/200 free times come from her senior year of high school, but she updated her 50 free and 100 fly times at MPSF championships. Her best SCY events are:

  • 50 free – 23.90
  • 100 free – 51.26
  • 200 free – 1:49.12
  • 500 free – 4:55.43
  • 100 fly – 55.58

Florida also signaled the arrival of Gabrielle Hillis from New York City. The Prosper High School graduate swims for Manhattan Makos, where she excels in free and back. A US Open qualifier in the 50m free, Hillis has improved her SCY 100/200 free and 100 fly, as well as her LCM 200/400 free and 200 back times since the fall of her senior year. She competed in the 50/100/200 free and 100 back at the 2017 NCSA Junior National Championship in March, and her top SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 23.50
  • 100 free – 51.06
  • 200 free – 1:52.54
  • 50 back – 27.76
  • 100 back – 58.23

Coach Troy noted, “In regards to the entire class they bring a lot to the table. These women fill a lot of the weaknesses we had on last year’s squad and combined with the rest of the team put us in a good place.”
