Indiana Picks Up Verbal Commitment from California Sprinter Julia Wolf

Valencia, California’s Julia Wolf has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the Indiana University Hoosiers beginning in the fall of 2018.

“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to swim for Indiana University and continue the tradition of excellence IU has set in college swimming. I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity. GO HOOSIERS! CLASS of 2022!!”

Wolf is a rising senior at Valencia High School, and the reigning CIF-Southern Section Division I champion in the 50 free. Wolf won the sprint free by 1/100 with 22.97 at the 2017 section meet. She then went on to place fourth in the 100 free (50.23), and led off both the 200 medley relay (26.90 backstroke) and 200 free relay (23.19).

Wolf swims year-round for Canyons Aquatic Club, with whom she competed at the recent U.S. Nationals and World Championship Trials in Indianapolis. Wolf placed 55th in the 50 free (26.31) and 98th in the 100 (58.23). Wolf also competed at Winter Nationals in Atlanta last December, where she placed 21st in the 50 free (23.18). She also contributed a 22.91 leadoff to the Canyons’ bronze medal-winning 4×50 free relay and a 50.66 leadoff to their fifth-place 4×100 free relay, and anchored the 200 medley and 400 medley relays, both of which finished fifth.

Her father told SwimSwam, “Julia will continue working under IU’s new Sprint Coach, Coley Stickels, who she has been training with at Canyons Aquatics in Valencia, California.”
