Here’s a video of Ryan Lochte’s press conference before the 2012 Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix, where he discusses that he’d love any opportunity to race against Phelps.
This head-to-head battle has been the rage for the last few months, since Phelps got back on his training wagon, and Lochte seems eager for the showdown.
Lochte is convinced that Phelps is swimming the 400 IM, saying that there’s “no doubt in his mind” about it.
As for his own events, Lochte said for sure that he’s swimming the two IM’s, the 200 back, and the 200 free, but alluded that he might throw “two or three” different events. The best guess is that those events would include at least the 100 free and the 100 back, if only for relay purposes.

In a comment to the article “Will Michael Phelps swim 400 IM in London?” few days ago,
a poster with the handle “NEWSWIM” said that only swimming junkies like myself who think that Phelps will swim 400 IM in London.
I guess this makes Ryan Lochte a swimming junkie 🙂
I’ve always heard that Lochte is a closeted swimming junkie.
I think people who aren’t swim junkies probably never knew he was thinking about dropping it…
There’s little doubt in my mind at this point that Phelps will swim it.
