Colgate Swim & Dive Announces 2017-18 Slate

Colgate’s Mark S. Randall Head Swimming and Diving Coach Andy Waeger has announced the Raiders 2017-18 schedule, which includes six home meets in the friendly confines of Lineberry Natatorium and four dual meets against Patriot League opponents.

“We have significantly more home meets this year, which will be really nice for our teams,” said Waeger. “We’ve added a couple more Patriot League schools to the schedule, which will provide good tests to get us ready for Patriot League Championships.”

The Raiders open the 2017-18 slate with the Colgate Fall Classic on Oct. 6 and 7. Both the men and women will host UMass, Cleveland State, Le Moyne and Saint Bonaventure, while the women will also welcome St. Francis (Pa.).

Colgate hosts Patriot League foe Loyola on Oct. 14 in its first dual meet of the season before welcome Binghamton two weeks later on Oct. 28. The Raiders then close out their season-opening homestand against Canisius and Niagara on Nov. 4 and 5.

The Raiders face their first road test of the season Nov. 17-19 when Colgate heads to the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University. Colgate will take a break from meet action before heading to West Palm Beach, Fla. for the team’s annual training trip Jan. 1-9.

“The Terrier Invitational will be the focus and culmination of the fall portion of our schedule,” said Waeger. “We’ll go there in hopes of getting great seed times for Patriot League Championships. The training trip allows us to have a great week of training with the team back together in sunny Florida. ”

Colgate opens up the second half of the season with a roadtrip to Boston to take on Boston University (Jan. 13) and Holy Cross (Jan. 15) in a pair of league dual meets. The Raiders return home on Jan. 20 to take on Lafayette and honor the teams’ seniors on Senior Day. Colgate closes out the dual meet season with a trip to Saint Francis Brooklyn on Jan. 27.

Patriot League Championships are slated for Feb. 14-17 in Annapolis, Md. The four-day event will be held at Navy’s Lejeune Hall.
