Stephen Milne is a Scottish freestyle specialist, Olympic medalist and World Champion. His primary event is the 1,500 meter freestyle but Milne has also been a staple on the Scottish and Great British 4×200 meter freestyle relay that has enjoyed recent success on an international stage.
International Career
Milne followed a traditional path through his international career beginning at the European Junior Championships in 2012 and four years later standing on the Olympic podium. In 2014 Milne broke out onto the senior international stage competing at the European Championships for Great Britain and the Commonwealth Games for Scotland. At he Commonwealth Games he won a silver medal as a member of the 4×200 meter freestyle relay.
2015 World Championships
In his World Championship debut, Milne made the final in both the 800 and 1,500 meter freestyle relays. In the 1,500 meter freestyle he finished 5th in 14:58.62 and finished 7th in the 800 meter freestyle in 7:49.86.
2016 Olympics
In his Olympic debut, Milne won a silver medal as a member of the 4×200 meter freestyle relay. Milne lead of the team in 1:46.97 and was followed by Duncan Scott, Dan Wallace and James Guy who combined in 7:03.13 to finish behind Team USA.
2017 World Championships
Milne became a World Champion in Budapest as a member of the British 4×200 meter freestyle relay. Milne lead the team off in 1:47.25 to put them in fourth position. Nick Grainger, Duncan Scott and James Guy followed to bring home the gold in 7:01.70.
