Former Bridgeport Coach Arrested A Third Time

Former Bridgeport University swim coach Sean Raffile was arrested for a third time in late July, once again for violating a protective order.

Raffile was first arrested in March, when he was still coaching Bridgeport. In between the team’s conference and national championship meets, Raffile was arrested and charged with both third degree assault and “risk of injury to a child.” Then in early April, he was arrested once again, this time for violating a protective order.

Raffile eventually pleaded guilty to both the third degree assault and violating a protective order charges over the summer. He was set for another court date on September 13, but will now have an earlier visit with the Connecticut judicial branch, as the state court website now shows a third arrest on July 29. The offense is once again violation of a protective order.

For that charge, Raffile will be due back in court on September 8. He was released on $10,000 bond. The charge is a class D felony.

Bridgeport has since moved on without Raffile, naming Richard ‘Doc’ Ludemann as its new men’s and women’s head coach.
