St. Bonaventure University women’s swimming and diving head coach Brian Thomas has released his schedule for the 2017-18 campaign.

Home meets against Canisius, Buffalo, and Binghamton highlight this year’s schedule. The 2018 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 17 in Geneva, Ohio.

St. Bonaventure will open its season at the Colgate Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7. The Bonnies will then travel to Central Connecticut for a tri-meet against CCU and Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14.

“The travel involved in October presents more of a challenge from a training standpoint, trying to balance academics and maintaining our training program,” Thomas said. “Going into January it is all about fine tuning our training heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship meet in mid-February.”

The Bonnies will travel to the University of Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 20. Connecticut is new to the Bonnies schedule this season. The Atlantic 10 Quad Meet will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29 where the Bonnies will compete against conference foes Duquesne, La Salle, and Saint Louis at the Spire Institute in Ohio.

“We like to find competition to challenge ourselves when making the schedule,” said Thomas. “Certainly adding Connecticut will help toward getting us ready.”

St. Bonaventure’s home opener takes place on Saturday, Nov. 11 when Little Three rival Canisius visits the Reilly Center Pool. A two-week break leads the Bonnies into the AT&T Winter National Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, Nov. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 30.

The Akron Invitational will take place Friday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 3 and will be the only action for the Bonnies in December.

The Bonnies open up after the holiday break with a pair of home meets on Friday, Jan. 12against Buffalo and Saturday, Jan. 13 when they face Binghamton. One last warm-up meet before the A-10 Championships will take place on Friday, Jan. 19 when the Bonnies travel to Cornell.

This will mark Thomas’ second year as head coach and the Bonnies only graduate four members off of last year’s roster. Logan Arnold joins the staff as an assistant coach this year while Stephanie Fleming returns to the program as diving coach.
