The Michigan State women’s swimming and diving team beat Bowling Green 186-114 in a home dual meet on Friday night.
“I think they made the best out of it, and did a nice job right from the beginning. We had really nice relays and then from there it continued,” MSU head coach Matt Gianiodis said. “I thought Ellie (Roche) had a good 200 breaststroke, and our freshmen swam really well.”
Senior Racheal Bukowski won the 50 free, making it her fourth-consecutive win in the event and fifth overall this season. Bukowski also won the 100 free, touching the pad at 51.51.
Senior Haley Kornburger won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle.
Junior Cathryn Armstrong finished first in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 57.69.
In the 100 breaststroke, Junior Ana Sortland came up with a victory, clocking in at 1:03.49, while junior Ellie Rocheswam a season-best in the 200 breaststroke, finishing first and clocking in at 2:19.39.
Freshman Olivia Chick placed second in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Her time of 1:53.56 in the 200 free was a personal best.
Fellow freshman Abbey Neveling swam a personal best in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:07.41.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Chick, Maison Moore, Bukowski and Courtney Aycock grabbed the 400 freestyle relay, finishing the meet off strong.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete tomorrow, Nov. 11 at 12 p.m. in the IM West Indoor Pool. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting canned food for its food drive during the meet.
