NC State Extends Head Coach Braden Holloway’s Contract Through 2021

North Carolina State and head men’s and women’s swimming & diving coach Braden Holloway have agreed to a new contract that will extend through the 2021-2022 season. Additional provisions in Holloway’s new contract can trigger 3 one-year extensions, which would make the contract extend through the 2024-2025 season.

“My family and I are grateful for the commitment from NC State and (direct of athletics) Debbie Yow,” said Holloway of the new deal. “NC State is home. I swam here, it’s a privilege to coach here, and I look forward to many great years ahead with the Wolfpack.”

Holloway, who has completed 6 full seasons as NC State’s head coach, has been named ACC men’s Coach of the Year 4 times (2013, 2015, 2016, and 2016) and ACC women’s Coach of the Year 1 time (2017). Both teams have finished in the top 10 at NCAAs in each of the last 2 seasons, including 4th for the men on both occasions. Both programs placed 8th at the ACC Championships prior to his arrival. The men’s team has now won 3 straight titles, and in 2017 the NC State women won their first ACC Championship in 37 years.

The school has not yet fulfilled a request for terms of the new contract, but in 2016 Holloway was paid a salary of $116,000.

Agree one of the top 3 or 4 for certain. UNDERPAID. The NCSTATE ALUMNI should raise $1,000,000 award it the Braden IF HE STAYS another 5 years as a bonus.

Average home price in Raleigh is higher than average home price in Austin with otherwise similar costs of living except NC has a state income tax. Raleigh is in the hottest 5 real estate markets in the country. Wouldn’t people in Austin like to be 2 1/2 hours from great beaches and mountains? Raleigh is a great place to live.

Good data to support your assertion that the average home price in Raleigh is NOT higher than the average home price in Austin. On balance Zillow is a fair guide. I guess it depends how they define the metro area. I am a real estate investor in Raleigh and visit Austin frequently with Austin investor friends because I have a daughter in school there. They say Austin market slowed this spring. I’ll stand by my assertion.

Curious – in comparison, what do coaches of the other elite programs make?

Texas camps are HUGE for Eddie and Carol and their assistants. Probably huge speedo money too, especially for Eddie. Durden doesn’t do camps at Cal and money doesn’t go as far in the Bay area so he is under compensated big time IMO. What did Bauerle sign for last year? $350 or so???

When you consider the hours swim coaches put in most of them are well underpaid. I am thankful there are so many coaches that do it for the love of the sport.

They better have given him a fat raise… I don’t think Texas was up in Raleigh just for the racing aspects…

Underpaid! This man is one of the very best and should be well in excess of $200K base salary. He does not coach for the money, like some others, but come on!!!!! He really needs an agent like Jimmy Sexton.

Dependimg upon the policy of the school. many coaches receive supplemental income from athletic fundraising associations, the right to run camps, income from apparel firms, fees for talks with alumni, media shows, etc. and only the “official” state funds paid portion is what is disclosed. I suspect that one way or another he makes substantially more,
