The “is he swimming in London” question us at 0:40.
Errr…am I the only one who doesn’t see this video or it has been removed?
AFAIK, there has never been a video in this entry since it was first posted. Maybe they forgot? or it’s just a short news 9as the title)?
But it says: “Categories: US Olympic Trials, Video”
Strange.
Hopefully he can be sharper on the turns and put in a better breastroke leg, but it does look like his conditioning is there. I’m excited to see what he goes in his remaining races. Here’s my predictions if he goes all out:
200Fr 1:43:7
200Im 1:54.0
100Fly 50.5
200Fly 152.5
100 Fr 47.8
Pretty solid predictions. Maybe closer to 48.0 in the 100, though I think he’ll definitely be at least 47.5 in London. He and Bob both should be confident that Michael will be the leadoff in the relay, I don’t think he has to prove it this week at all. And I also think he’ll swim closer to 1:53 in the 200 fly. After today it seems evident that Phelps and Lochte are both going to have a more complete taper for London, where I think they’ll both be under 1:54 in the 200 IM and under 1:43 in the free. But yeah, I don’t see a time under 1:54 in the IM or at best 1:43.5 in the free this… Read more »
Andy Dixon,
sub 1:43 for both Lochte and Phelps?
I don’t think it will happen in London, or ever.
Ever is *a lot of time*, but definitely, not in London.
True.
I am going to correct it:
Phelps and Lochte may go sub 1:43 only if they focus on 100-200 free.
I can foresee 4-5 guys under 1:44 in London this summer, so Ryan and Michael will need to be close to sub 1:43 to take gold and silver. I can see Ryan swimming 1:43.7 this week and at least 1:43.0 in London.
Agreed, maybe even 6
Agnel
Phelps
Locthe
Bieldermann
Sun
Park.
Darkhorse for Any medal is Sun, if he keep up no more than a second behind the leader on last turn he will give him a run for money.
They better because I don’t think a 144 is going to win the 200 in London.
Yeah, 1:44 will not win gold.
Justin Thompson,
that 47.8 is quite optimistic. Remember that he is now also training for 400 IM (where he will put more emphasize than his any other event since 400 IM is his chance to become the first man to threepeat). Likewise, 1:43.7 is also a tad optimistic as I think 1:44.0 will more like it.
