Was it just me, or did Leverenz back off of this race when she had second place wrapped up?
That would be a classic Teri McKeever move.
I really doubt leverenz backed off.
Pretty sure it was just you. She looked like she was really going for it.
Makes the Olympic team at 15, is “more mature” at 19 four years later, swims best time in the world in the 400 IM at Trials… Sounds awfully similar to Katie Hoff in ’08. Hope she holds her taper and mental composure in London so we don’t see a repeat
A repeat of what? An Olympic medal? Very disappointing.
Why do people keep comparing young swimmers (Franklin, and now Beisel) to Hoff?
They are two different swimmers, with vastly different events, schedules, etc.
not only that I do not think Hoff is done swimming. The comparisons make it seem like she can never be good again, well I guess we will see today. 400 free Lets Go Katie Hoff
I don’t think you will and I think a lot if it has to do with balance. Hoff, Ziegler decided to forgo college and turn pro. I don’t blame them, it was very lucrative but I think that really ratchets up the pressure and expectations.I don’t know how biesel tapers but I think mentally when you have that balance at 18-19, it’s better for you.
Beisel is a delightful young lady and never puts on airs. She loves racing and is a very supportive teammate.I think we may see at least a new American Record out of her, possibly a world record.
You’ve gotta love Beisel! Such a fun personality and great champion.
(dislike the douchy chaperones but that’s probably SOP at huge events with big stars)
