Before leaving on training trip, the Maine women’s and men’s teams took third and fourth, respectively at the Maine State Meet, a two-day invite, against Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby College. Their top finishers of the meet were Kyle Adams (first place, 1-meter – 244.80; second place, 3-meter – 212.55), Jack McNamara (first place, 200 breast – 2:12.00), and Emma Blackdeer (third place, 50 fly – 32.66; third-place 200 IM – 2:12.24; and second place, 200 breast – 2:30.44). They also had a win in the 400 free relay, as Emily Borger, Rita Chen, Juliana McDonald, and Emma Blair teamed up for 3:36.96.
The Black Bears will be back in the water for their first meet after break today, taking on Bowdoin College at home at 12:00pm. After that, the team will have one more dual meet, this one at Providence College on January 27th, before finishing up the season at the America East Championships from February 15th – February 18th. This marks a change for the Black Bear men, who ended last season at the ECAC meet.
