Talented British diver Lydia Rosenthall has joined the Pitt women’s swimming & diving program, diving coach Katie Hazelton officially announced Tuesday.

Rosenthall, a native of Leeds, England, has been an impact diver on the Great Britain diving scene for several years. She was crowned a Junior European champion and won multiple junior national titles in Britain before making her senior-level debut at the 2013 British Championships, where Rosenthall placed in the top five in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard competitions.

“I am extremely excited to have Lydia join the team,” Coach Hazelton said of Rosenthall. “Her diving achievements speak for themselves, and I believe she will make an immediate impact on the team. More importantly, Lydia will bring a great dynamic to the team. From discussions with her former coaches, she is a brilliant teammate, bringing hard work and determination and a willingness to help promote our elite training environment.”

Since advancing to senior-level meets in her home country, Rosenthall won synchro 3-meter gold with teammate Katherine Torrance at the 2014 British National Cup, a prestigious annual domestic meet in which she has medaled in and competed at several times in the past few years, including in 2017.

A former British Elite Junior national champion on 1-meter, 3-meter and platform, Rosenthall also competed in the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015, finishing eighth on 3-meter springboard.

Rosenthall was born and raised in the northern English city of Leeds, the same place where first-year Pitt diving coach Katie Hazelton attended university and graduated from in 2005.

Born on Sept. 10, 1998, Rosenthall will have three seasons of eligibility remaining when she begins competing for the Panthers.
