Press Release courtesy of Missouri State Athletics

Two days after being recognized on the national stage by CollegeSwimming.com, junior All-American Artur Osvath was honored as the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league Thursday. The award is his third of the season and eighth of his career.

Osvath put on quite the show against No. 15 ranked Missouri and Drury University, breaking two pool records, as well as a school and Mid-American Conference record. Against the Tigers, Osvath blew away the competition in the 200 fly, where he shattered the school, pool and MAC record with a B-standard time of 1:44.86. He later went on to break another pool record, this time in the 200 breast. His time of 1:59.79 met B-standards and was over three seconds faster than the runner up.

The Budapest, Hungary, native was a perfect two-for-two against Drury, touching the wall first in both the 200 IM and 100 fly. He also helped the Bears to victory in the 200 medley relay, serving as the third leg of the Missouri State relay squad. After the weekend, Osvath sits at No. 15 in the 200 breast, is 40th overall in the 200 fly and ranks 42nd in the 200 IM. Osvath leads the MAC in three events – the 200 IM, 200 breast and 200 fly.

The men’s squad will hit the pool this weekend at the Shamrock Invitational in South Bend, Ind., for a two-day meet at the campus of Notre Dame. For all the latest information on the Missouri State swimming and diving team, visit missouristatebears.com or follow @MoStateSwim on Twitter.
