For the fourth and final time in the month of January, the Ohio State swimming and diving program will hit the water on Friday and Saturday as it travels to the Shamrock Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The two-day meet will feature two sessions on Friday and one session on Saturday.

Ohio State enters the final road regular season meet of the season ranked No. 11 in the latest women’s College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America poll that was released on Jan. 17. The men’s team enters the meet ranked in the 16th slot.
The Buckeyes will be facing off against the host, Notre Dame (No. 22 men/women), Iowa (receiving votes), Akron, Wisconsin (No. 19 women) and Missouri State. Fans are encouraged to follow action live on Twitter @OhioSt_SwimDive.
Last Time Out
The Buckeyes honored the careers of 22 outstanding seniors on Senior Day at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in a quad meet against Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Michigan on Jan. 20. Paul DeLakis and Liz Li both swept a pair of freestyle individual titles. Li claimed titles in the 50 freestyle (22.29) and 100 freestyle (49.09), while DeLakis won the 200 freestyle (1:36.16) and 100 freestyle (44.11). DeLakis also closed out the meet with a split of 43.70 to seal the win in the 400 free relay.
Hanna Gresser claimed her third individual win of the season and she was also a member of the women’s 200 medley relay that garnered gold with a time of 1:39.80. In the 100 backstroke, Mark Belanger and Thomas Trace, two of the 22 seniors that were honored, swam to a one-two finish with times of 48.21 and 49.11, respectively.
Lara Tarvit (256.73/platform) and Stephen Romanik (361.13/one-meter) both won titles in the diving well.
Top Times NCAA/Big Ten
Seven Buckeyes currently have times that are ranked in the top 20 in the NCAA. Molly Kowal (1000/1650 freestyle), Meg Bailey (200 butterfly/400 individual medley) and Noah Lense (100/200 butterfly) all account for two top-20 marks. Both of Bailey’s season-best readouts in the 200 butterfly (1:55.40) and 400 individual medley (4:05.80) are the fastest times in the Big Ten this season.
The 50 freestyle on the women’s side features two Buckeyes in the top 20 nationally; Freya Rayner (22.25) and Liz Li (22.29) both have national marks as well as two of the top three times in the Big Ten. Freshman Kristen Romano owns the 15th-best 200 backstroke time in the nation; her career-best readout of 1:52.86 is a Ohio State school record.
