In the opening event of the 2018 Women’s B1G Ten Championships, the Indiana Hoosiers showed they came to play.
With the 200 medley relay first on the schedule, the Hoosiers knew they had a great chance to make a statement as they came in with the top time in the country this year. They did not disappoint, as Ali Rockett (23.63) and Lilly King (25.84) got them out to a sizeable lead before Christine Jensen (22.67) and Grace Haskett (22.02) finished things off as they touched in a blazing 1:34.16.
Not only did they blow by the Big Ten Championship Record of 1:35.55 set last year by Minnesota, but they also broke their own Big Ten Record of 1:34.58 set earlier this year at the Purdue Invite.
They also came narrowly close to swimming the fastest 200 medley relay in history, as they were just .06 off Cal’s NCAA record (1:34.10) and .01 off of Stanford’s American Record (1:34.15). Cal established their record at last year’s NCAA Championships, while Stanford set the American Record at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships. Indiana now sits 3rd all-time.

The three teams were all very similar on the back and fly legs, with King’s swift breast leg making up the ground lost by Indiana on the free leg.

Awesome swim — crazy breaststroke split from King of course! Correction: The Cal relay should be listed with the NCAA record (1:34.10) and Stanford with the AR (1:34.15). Their two times are currently flipped in the comparison of the three relays in the article.
They can win this relay at NCAAs with a 21 mid anchor.

There will be at least 3 teams in the 1:33s this year. Cal Stanford Indiana +
King will go a 55 this season
the scary thing is that rockett, king, and jensen can go the same splits & just have haskett be a little faster (she’s split sub 22 on relays before), and they’ll break the record.
