Bearded Blake Pieroni Compares 800 Free Relay Split & 200 Free (Video)

2018 MEN’S B1G CHAMPIONSHIPS

After dropping a very fast 1:31.51 split on Indiana’s 800 freestyle relay Wednesday night, Blake Pieroni followed up with an even more impressive 1:31.14 in the 200 freestyle Friday night, simultaneously toppling the pool and Big Ten records in that event.

Pieroni’s swim Friday ranks as the 2nd-fastest in the country this year, behind only Harvard’s Dean Farris, who dropped a nearly-identical 1:31.12 at the 2018 Ivy League Championships only about an hour before Pieroni stepped onto the block.

Pieroni is already the 2nd-fastest performer of all time in the 200 yard freestyle (1:30.87) behind American Record holder Townley Haas of the University of Texas. With his swim Friday, Pieroni added his name for a third time to the top 10 all-time performers list in the race, where he now holds the 3rd, 6th, and 7th (tied with USC’s Dylan Carter) positions.
