It was a night of upsets, only the 50 free one of the most predictable events in the meet, went precisely to expectations.
Florida won the 200 free relay, picked by only 3% of pick’em contest entrants. Favorites of 51% NC State were 2nd.
Townley Haas, pick of 31% to win the 500 free, beat favorite of 55% Felix Auboeck.
Jan Switkowski won the 200 IM, picked by only .6% of entries. 2nd place Andreas Vaziaos was picked by only 8% of entries anywhere in the top 4.
Caeleb Dressel won the 50 free, surprising no one (picked correctly by 99.7%). Ryan Held was correctly picked 2nd by 88%. Bowen Becker was the most popular pick for 3rd with 27% of 3rd place picks. The only surprise was 4th place Pawel Sendyk who was picked by only .7% anywhere in the top 4.
The 400 medley relay, which lacked a team picked first by more than 50% of entries, was won by Indiana the most popular pick with 47% of picks.

I’ve somehow done worse on this than the basketball brackets
Powered up from 543rd to 454th place. Unless I pull out a helluva negative split, I think I missed my pick’em taper.
55th right now. But after day 3 my ranking will drop sharply as I picked Joe Schooling to win 100fly and Dean Farris to win 200 free. LOL.
190th for me right now… Honestly a lot better than I thought considering I left Townley Haas out of the top four in the 500 and had Hugo Gonzalez winning the 200 IM along with Texas getting 2nd in the 400 medley relay.
Another year, another set of bad picks for me!
Same hahha
How does the first place person not have Haas in their top 4 for the 500?!
In a night with a lot of unexpected winners, it makes sense that someone with unconventional picks would do well
All I’m saying is that predicting anything for this meet is impossible. There are so many ups and downs its absurd. Come on, .7% predicted Florida to win the relay?? Are you kidding?
puffthehuff: Nice
