More Fast Times on Day 4 of the Youth Olympics

There were 7 finals on Day 4 of the Youth Olympics. With all of the Pan Pac excitement coming up, I will just highlight a few races, and provide links to the rest of the results.

The best swim of the night was Yi Tang of China in the women’s 200 free. Tang, who last night became the 10th fastest 100 freestyler in the world, won the gold there in a time of 1:58.78 as the only woman going under 2 minutes. Even though this time was very fast, it was over a second off of her season best, where she is 12th best in the world this year (counted before the women’s 200 free has been swum at Pan-Pacs).

Two Americans were also in this final, with Kiera Janzen finishing 4th in 2:02.01 and Jordan Mattern finishing 7th in 2:03.28. Mattern was actually in a position to final headed into the final turn, where she faded badly back to 7th.
