Mark Shoemaker, a senior at Memorial High School in Houston, Texas, has announced his verbal commitment to Loyola University Maryland’s class of 2022. He will suit up with Nick Pacitti in the fall. The Greyhounds are coming off a successful 2017-18 season that saw senior Ben Cono finish 17th in both the 100 breast (52.59) and 200 breast (1:54.42) at NCAAs.
“I am extremely excited to announce that I am committing to Loyola University Maryland to pursue my academic and swimming career for the next four years!”
Shoemaker represented Memorial High at the UIL 6A Region 4 Championships in February, where he competed in the 200 free and 500 free and finished 8th in both events. He also earned a PB in the 50 free leading off the 200 free relay. Shoemaker swims year-round with Dads Club Swim Team. At last month’s Speedo Sectionals hosted by Aggie Swim Club, he notched a PB in the 1650 free and also competed in the 500 free, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM.
