Wolverines Add Verbal Commitment from Jack McCurdy for 2019

Fort Wayne, Indiana native Jack McCurdy has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Michigan beginning in the 2019-20 school year. McCurdy is a junior at Carroll High School and swims year-round for Fort Wayne Swim Team. He will join his current high school and club swimming teammate Noah Yarian in the class of 2023.

“I am very excited to move on to the next stage of life. I love the campus and I love the team, it is going be a great place to call home for the next four years. I have a teammate, Noah Yarian, who is also committed to swim for the University of Michigan, so it will be nice to train with him for another four years.”

McCurdy specializes in breast and IM and recently placed 6th in in the former and 10th in the latter at the Indiana Boys State Championships. Both swims produced lifetime bests. He also split 25.06 in the 50 breast on the third-place 200 medley relay and 47.01 (beating his best flat-start by 2 seconds) on the sixth-place 400 free relay.

In club swimming, McCurdy kicked off his 2018 long course season with a best time in the 100 breast (1:07.47) at his first meet of the year. He notched PBs in the 200 free, 200 breast, and 400 IM at Winter Juniors East, and in the 200 IM and 100 breast at IHSAA State Meet.
