Juniors Champ Zoie Hartman Gives Georgia its 1st Verbal for C/O 2023

Danville, California’s Zoie Hartman has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Georgia’s class of 2023 and will suit up for the Bulldogs in the fall of 2019.

“I’m extremely honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming journey at the University of Georgia! I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, and all the people who have supported me throughout this great adventure. Go Dawgs!!??”

Hartman is in the middle of her junior season at Monte Vista High School. Last May as a sophomore, she won both the 100 breast (1:00.59) and 200 IM (2:00.05) at the 2017 CIF-North Coast Section Championships. As a freshman she finished second and third in the respective events.

Hartman swims club for Crow Canyon Sharks. She is one of only 6 high school girls in the country to have broken 1:00 in the 100 breast in the 2017-18 swim year. She accomplished that at Winter Juniors West in December, where she finished second (to meet record-breaker Zoe Bartel) with 59.84. She dropped 3.2 seconds to go a best time of 2:08.60 and finish third in the 200 breast, and took 2.7 seconds off her previous PB in the 200 IM, breaking 2:00 for the first time (1:57.71) and placing fifth. She also dropped time in her 100 back (56.20) and split 1:46.12 on the second leg of Crow Canyon’s 800 free relay. Last summer, she won both the 100m breast (1:08.65) and 200m breast (2:28.09) at Summer Junior Nationals and earned a spot on the 2017-18 National Junior Team for those performances.

Top SCY times:

  • 400 IM – 4:17.00

Where do you think she’ll end up on the list? She does look to be the best overall breaststroker in this class (over Emily Weiss), though that could be debated. Also, are you guys going to release your “going into their senior years” list anytime soon?
