Wayne Lomas Announced as New Canadian National Para-Swimming Coach

Swimming Canada has announced Wayne Lomas as the new Associate High Performance Director and National Para-Swimming Coach starting on June 1st. Lomas is currently Swimming Australia’s High Performance Executive Manager, and he has been working for Swimming Australia since 2010.

He was also the Team Leader for the 2016 Australian Olympic Team as well as a coach for the 2016 Paralympic Team, which won 29 medals. Lomas has also held leadership roles for Australia at World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and World University Games.

Lomas will be in charge of Canada’s Paralympic program, and will lead all the para-swimming teams in interantional competitions. He will also be working directly under John Atkinson, Swimming Cananda National Coach and High Performance Director.

When asked about the new position, Lomas stated that “This is a wonderful opportunity to join John and his team”, also mentioning he’s excited to work with an orgnization that has had as much success historically in para-swimming as Canada has. Lomas also stated that “It’s a great honour and privilege to take on such a critical role at such an exciting time”.
