China Swipes 7 Gold Out of 10 at FINA Artistic Swimming World Series

Team China distinguished itself this weekend in Beijing (CHN) as the capital hosted the second meet of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2018 from April 20-22.

The hosts swept seven gold medals out of ten over the three-day competition, while Uzbekistan took two titles and Slovakia one.

World silver medallists the twin sisters Jiang Wenwen and Tingting were the best in both the duet technical and free collecting respectively 90.5171 and 92.8000 points for their impressive routines.

Young Chinese mixed duet composed of Shi Haoyu/Zhang Yiyao bagged the gold in the mixed events (76.9274 for the technical and and 77.8667 for the free). Team China also claimed victory in the Team Free (92.2333) / Technical (89.0903) and Combination (93.2667).

Uzbekistan showed great form this weekend in Beijing as the team won the Highlight event and soloist Toshkhujaeva Khonzodakhon clinched gold in the Solo Free with 81.9333 points. She proved too strong for the Solo Technical winner Nada Daabousova (SVK), who finished second with 80.8667 and Malaysia’s Hua Wei Gan who took bronze 78.5000.

Daabousova of Slovakia accumulated 78.1890 points for her Technical performance, while Hua Wei Gan secured the silver medal with 73.5892.

The FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2018, which will next stop in Tokyo (JPN) from April 27-30, can be watched live or on demand on FINAtv.
