Australia’s Grimsey takes FINA Open Water Grand Prix title

Trent Grimsey of Australia is the 2012 FINA Open Water Grand Prix series winner. The FINA Grand Prix curcuit was started in 2008 and features races that are all over 10K in length. There were 8 stops on the 2012 curcuit: Rosario (ARG), Santa Fe-Coronda (ARG), Hernandarias-Parana (ARG), Cancun (MEX),Capri-Napoli (ITA), Lac St. Jean (CAN), Lake Magog (CAN), Sabac (SRB), and Ohrid Lake (MKD).

Grimsey is now scheduled to head over the England to attempt a record setting English Channel crossing. The current record of 6 hours and 57 minutes is held by Bulgarian Petar Stoychev.
