LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree University swimming and diving head coach Jimmy Tierney announced the hiring of Amanda Siehs as graduate assistant swimming coach.

Siehs, a Menomonee Falls, Wis. native, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2017, where she holds school records in the 50 and 100 freestyle. She was a part of the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay teams that set school records.

“We are thrilled to add Mandie Siehs to the Bearcat swimming and diving staff. Mandie was a very driven and motivated athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee which resulted in multiple Horizon League titles in her career. This has translated into her short coaching career so far at Elmbrook Swim Club, one of the prominent swim clubs in the state of Wisconsin,” said Tierney. “The coaches from both the college and club raved about her work ethic and commitment to success. I am convinced that she will be a terrific leader and be a great influence on the current and future Bearcats as we strive to climb the team standings in the GLVC and NCAA Division II Nationals.”

During her swim career, Siehs was the Horizon League champion in the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and the 200 freestyle relay. In 2016, she participated in the Olympic Trial qualifier where she competed in the 50 freestyle.
“Growing up knowing that swimming is and always will be my passion, I have chosen to begin the path that will hopefully keep me involved in the sport for my whole life by coaching,” said Siehs. “Being fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work with Coach Tierney is both an honor and privilege. I cannot wait for the season to begin and wear the McKendree purple and white proudly.”

Siehs began her coaching career at the Shorewood Swim Club. Upon graduation, she began working for the Elmbrook Swim Club, where she assisted the senior head coaches.
