New Hampshire, UMBC, Binghamton Garner America East Honors

BOSTON – Many #AESD programs were in action this past week competing at invitational and dual meets.

Stony Brook women’s swimming and diving made history and won their home meet Saturday afternoon for the first time since the team was reinstated. Binghamton’s weekend included four divers qualifying for the NCAA Division I Zone Diving Meet, these divers will compete early next year in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championship.

Co-Female Swimmer of the Week

Anna Metzler, New Hampshire – Fr., Free, Regensburg, Germany

  • The Freshman won the 500 free (4:52.87) and the 200 IM (2:01.35)  at the Terrier Invitational.
  • Also won the 400 IM in a time of 4:15.13
  • This is Metzler’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Co-Female Swimmer of the Week

Hania Moro, UMBC – Sr., Distance Free, New Cairo, Egypt

  • Placed third in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.83 and in the 1650 free (16:55.88) at the Patriot Invitational.
  • Also placed fourth in the 200 free (1:52.53)
  • This is Moro’s third #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Male Swimmer of the Week

Illia Rattsev, UMBC – Jr., Sprint/Mid Free, Moscow, Russia

  • Won the 50 free with a time of 20.38 at the Patriot Invitational.
  • Also placed second in the 100 free (45.14) and 200 free (1:40.89).
  • This is Rattsev’s second #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Female Diver of the Week

Sophia Howard, Binghamton – Soph., Diver, Johnston City, N.Y.

  • Made history by becoming the first Binghamton diver to reach the qualifying standard for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet since 2008.
  • Her score of 284.32 on the 1-meter event broke the Binghamton program record of 271.00.
  • This is Howard’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Male Diver of the Week

David Walters, Binghamton – Soph., Diver, West Nyack, N.Y.

  • Swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 313.80 and 304.87, respectively.
  • Also qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet; first diver since 2015.
  • This is Walters’ first #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.
