Texas Men Pick Up Two More Butterfliers For 2013

For Eddie Reeseand the Texas men, the latest additions that snuck in amid the flash that was the signings of the nation’s top swimmer and diver should not be overlooked. Christopher Scheaffer and Andrew Skowronek add to what is becoming a very dynamic and very deep class for Texas that should contend for the title of “best in the country”.

Scheaffer swims for Bellarmine Prep and the Santa Clara Swim Club in the San Jose area, and is a multi-stroke sprinter. He’s been 48.8 in the 100 back and 48.2 in the 100 fly, though his 200 time in the fly of 1:46.41 indicates that this is where he might lean for the Longhorns.

He’s also been 20.95 and 46.23 in the sprint freestyles.

Skowronek comes from much closer to home out of the same Alamo Area Aquatics Association that produced top sprinter John Murray for the Longhorns in last years class.

He’s yet another butterflier in this class that is already thick with them; he has bests of 49.40 in the 100 and 1:49.62.

Reese and his assistant Kris Kubick have hit the butterflies hard in recruiting this season, starting with Clark Smith and Will Glass and now adding both Scheaffer and Skowronek.

The glut of butterfliers being brought in lines up with what Jack Conger told Garrett in their interview last week, that he was locked-in to swim the 200 back at least.
