Bulldogs Grab Jr. National Champ Taylor Dale

Taylor Dale of the Carpet Capital Aquatics Club and Dalton High School in Georgia has decided to stay in-state (fairly rare this fall) and swim for Jack Bauerle’s Georgia Bulldogs next fall.

Dale is another one of these 100 backstroke/100 butterfly swimmers, with yards bests of 48.84 and 48.55, respectively. He will most likely fall toward the backstroke, though, both because that’s where Georgia needs him the most and where he’s shown the most propensity in long course. He was this summer’s Junior National Champion in the 100 backstroke with a 55.98 – more than a second faster than he was at the Olympic Trials a few months earlier. He was also a 2:04.1 in the 200 back in long course, far better than he was in yards.

Still, he’s pretty good in the 100 fly in long course as well, with a 55.4, so he could very well shoot for a double on day two of NCAA’s, if he gets to that point. He also has some potential to contribute in free relays, as his best in the 50 yard free is 20.86.

The Georgia Bulldogs saw their butterfly group beefed up a lot with last year’s recruiting class, with the additions of Matt Ellis and Yousef Aleskari, but they still are looking for an anchor in the sprint backstroke group.

An amazing swimmer and one to watch in the future. He seems to be a good kid too, always showing good sportsmanship. Good luck Taylor.

Not only a great swimmer but also a great kid! UGA is getting a student with brains to go along with his great swimming ability. He will make the Dawgs proud both in the pool and in class. We can all be proud to call this young man a Dawg!

UGA has not had a good recruiting season at all for the men. Good for them that they got Taylor. They missed out on Yoder and Bunner…huge in-state losses. They also don’t have much in the way of divers. They used up all their money in last year’s class…got fast kids. Paying price this year though.
