The Punahou School won Hawaii state titles on both the girls’ and boys’ sides this weekend in Honolulu. This marked the boys’ sixth-straight title, while it was a five-peat for the girls.
Nohea Lileikis led the Punahou girls, as she anchored their 200 free relay to the win, and placed 3rd in the 100 free and 5th in the 200 free. For the Punahou boys, sophomore Noah Peters hit the wall first in the 100 back (52.78) and was also 2nd in the 200 free (1:40.64). He led off their 2nd place 200 free relay, and split a 46.94 as Punahou claimed the 400 free relay victory.
Besides Punahou, there were several standout individual performances.
Cal commit Michael Petrides of Mid-Pacific Institute was just off of his best time in the 200 free, winning it by five seconds with a 1:35.32. He went out in 49.72 after the 100 wall in the 500 free, but faded to 28s not long after and ended up in 4:34.18, more than ten seconds off of his lifetime best. He still won the race by over three seconds.
Petrides also had field-fastest lead-offs in the 200 medley relay (22.94) and 400 free relay (44.94).
Grace Monahan stole the show on the girls’ side, decimating the field in the 200 IM (2:02.42) and 100 fly (53.79). The freshman was the only swimmer on the girls’ side representing University Laboratory School, but helped them to a 7th place finish.
In the breaststrokes, Hawaii Prep’s Maile Lawson defended her state title with a 1:03.89. For the boys, Jaek Horner of Kamehama posted a 54.52 to dominate the race, coming just .12 off of the state record. He also had a strong 24.70 split on Kamehama’s medley relay, which took over two seconds off of the state record, won the 200 IM (1:52.25), and split a 20.45 as Kamehama also won the 200 free relay.

Well, you all there on the Farm have a great bunch of guys, as well…why not share the wealth and give another team a chance? 😉 Best of luck to you all at the Cal/Stanford dual meet, Pac-12s and NCAAs. You all should have a good showing.. Hope Grant S can get back to full strength, as well…good guy, without question.
Man, only one heat at finals. Hawaii shows no mercy to consols swimmers.
Lack of depth issues prohibit a B heat…at least certainly in order to maintain a competitive environment
It used to only be scored top 5 placings a couple years ago too. Not enough population to justify consol heat, but definitely quality on top end.
The meet still only scores top 5 (6-4-3-2-1 and 12-8-6-4-2). Relays are rewarded heavily.
