Mackenzie Padington

High School (Claremont Secondary)

Coming out of secondary school, Padington had earned first place at the 2017 Canadian World Trials in the 400 free and 800 free and been a 2017 Senior National Champion with Island Swimming. She had also earned the title of National Open Water champion in 2014, and graduated with honors.

College (Minnesota)

2017-2018

Padington made an immediate impact as a freshman. At the Big Ten Championships, she was part of the 800 free relay that set a school record, and individually placed 15th in the 200 free (1:47.50) and 16th in the 500 free (4:45.61).

At NCAA’s, Padington was again part of the 800 free relay team which set a school record, finishing 8th overall. Individually, she finished 12th in the 200 free (1:44.37) to earn honorable mention All-America honors.

2018-2019

Padington built off of her freshman success during her 2nd year as a gopher. At Big Ten’s, she was runner-up in the 500 free (4:37.27) and 800 free relay, finished 5th in the 400 free relay, 7th in the 1650 free (16:10.54), and 18th in the 200 free (1:47.69).

At the NCAA Championships, Padington finished 3rd in the 500 free (4:35.21) and 1650 free (15:47.16) and was part of Minnesota’s 800 free relay team (7:00.34).
