Sam Auditore Announces Commitment to Washington University of St. Louis

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sam Auditore, a senior from Dayton, Ohio, will be traveling westbound this Fall as she announced her commitment to Washington University of St. Louis of the University Athletic Association (UAA) for the recruiting class of 2019. Auditore is a senior at Oakwood High School (OH) and swims club for the Dayton Raiders. She is a freestyle middle-distance specialist and a Futures qualifier in the 500 freestyle. Upon landing on campus this Fall, she will be the lone female swimmer from the Buckeye State.

“I chose WashU for its world class academics, close team, stunningly beautiful campus, and incredible coaching staff. Even from my first moments on campus I knew in my heart that WashU was the place for me to spend the next four years. Go Bears!”

Auditore will have an opportunity for immediate impact as she joins coach Brad Shively’s program. Her personal best in the 500 freestyle would have earned a consolation finals spot at the 2019 Division III national championship and a top five spot at the UAA Conference Championship meet in February. Based on 2018-19 meet results and using personal bests, she will begin this Fall as the top middle-distance swimmer inside the Washington University program pending the rest of the recruiting class. Her best 200 freestyle time makes her a strong candidate to earn a spot in the 800 freestyle relay next season.

Best Times (SCY):

  • 100 Freestyle: 53.91
  • 200 Freestyle: 1:53.00
  • 500 Freestyle: 5:02.28
  • 1000 Freestyle: 10:34.19
  • 1650 Freestyle: 17:43.19
  • 400 IM: 4:40.40

Auditore will have to get back to her 2017-18 season times which saw all of her personal bests occur in her premier events. Her best career meet took place at the (December) 2017 OLY Winter Invite at Indiana University where she earned personal bests in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 Freestyle events. Using her times from this meet alone would rank her first on the Washington University squad in both the 500- and 1000 freestyle events and top three in the 200- and 1650 freestyle events.
