- Men’s 400 Freestyle – Prelims
- Women’s 100 Butterfly – Prelims
- Men’s 100 Butterfly – Prelims
Today’s events are scheduled to take a total of 1 hour and 59 minutes from start to finish, with the longest event, the men’s 400 freestyle, occupying 10 heats and allotted 47 minutes.
Day 3 Morning Storylines to Watch:
- Sprint vs. Middle-Distance Convergence in the Men’s 400 Freestyle: Luke Maurer, last night’s runner-up in the 100 freestyle; Ian Grum, last night’s champion in both the 200 backstroke and 400 IM; Dominic Falcon, 400 IM Olympic Trials qualifier; and finally, number-1 seed Jack Walker, who finished 4th in the 100 freestyle last night all grace this morning’s heat sheets in the men’s 400 freestyle, and should showcase a multitude of race strategies.
- Likewise, women’s 400 IM champion Samantha Tadder returns to race the 400 freestyle today, where she will be joined by Ellie Marquardt, Miranda Heckman, and Summer Smith.
- After taking out the prelims of the women’s 400 IM under World Junior Record pace over the first 100, butterfly specialist Rachel Klinker returns to swim the women’s 100 butterfly this morning. Klinker’s best time in LCM stands at a though her best yards time is only a 54.18 from 2017. Klinker went 59.98 in both prelims and finals at the 2018 National Championships last summer, but given the early speed in the 400 IM, might be ready to notch a new lifetime best.
- Ethan Hu is the top seed in the men’s 100 butterfly, but his seed time is still over half-a-second slower than his actual personal best time of 53.11 from last week’s Phillips 66 National Championships. Hu, a recent Stanford class of 2024 commit, chiseled his best time in the 100 fly down to a 45.72 in yards, which could position him to go 52-mid or 52-low in the big pool.
